Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet performance
  • Great comfortable ride
  • Good on light off-roading
  • Exceptional tread life

The Falken Wildpeak H/T is a high-performance tire that is designed to be used all year round and is intended for use on pickup pickups and sport-utility vehicles. It provides excellent performance on dry and wet roads, in addition to the touring tire benefits of outstanding comfort and tread life, which it offers to the driver.

The Falken Wildpeak H/T demonstrates once again that Falken is a master at bringing together the best features of a variety of tire models into a single product. And because Falken designed this tire to sustain the weight of larger, heavier, and more cumbersome vehicles, they also set their sights on the tire’s durability. In order to produce a product with increased longevity, Falken equipped the Wildpeak H/T with steel belts that were both more rigid and broader, as well as a high-tension casing ply.

In addition to this, the Falken Wildpeak H/T features a symmetric and non-directional five-rib tread pattern on its outer tread. This feature is intended to provide improved handling stability as well as increased comfort while traveling.

The Wildpeak H/T begins at a price that is reasonable and favorable to one’s wallet, which is something that can be said about all Falken tires. Don’t neglect to look into the Falken Wildpeak H/T if you drive a stock pickup truck or SUV primarily on paved roads and your primary mode of transportation is an SUV.

Falken Wildpeak H/T Review: Performance Tread

Due to its non-directional tread pattern, the Falken Wildpeak H/T may give the impression of being a commonplace tire to the untrained eye. If you are one of those people who evaluates a tire based on its appearance, then the Wildpeak H/T is probably not going to live up to your high expectations in this regard.

But don’t judge a book by its cover. The tire features larger circumferential straight grooves, which contribute to the improved wet handling the tire provides. For improved traction and overall effectiveness in any weather condition, the tread blocks have multi-wave lateral sipes cut into them. It also has a shoulder design that has a variable pitch, which helps to reduce road noise while simultaneously increasing handling, stability, and grip on roadways that are wet or slippery.

The Falken Wildpeak H/T does, however, have some characteristics that are restricted by its design. A pair of all-terrain tires, also known as A/T tires, will make your vehicle more comfortable if you intend to do a significant amount of driving off-road. The Wildpeak H/T is not known for its capability off-road, which is one of its weaker aspects. On the other hand, things start to look up once you get on the freeway. There is no doubt that the tires will look their best there. In typical day-to-day driving conditions, it is able to provide exceptional tread wear and a level of driving comfort that can last for thousands of miles.

Falken Wildpeak H/T Review: Tire review in different conditions

I put the Falken Wildpeak H/T tires through a series of tests to evaluate how well they perform on a variety of different types of roads for the purpose of this evaluation.

Dry

The Falken Wildpeak H/T delivers in spades as a tire that is intended specifically for driving on the highway. Even on loose and dry surfaces, such as roadways with loose tarmac, dry sand, or hard soil, it provides exceptional levels of traction and grip. On the other hand, as you drive down an open road, this tire is functioning exactly as it was designed to. In this aspect, the non-directional tread pattern works well, as my truck instilled a sense of confidence in me even though I was going faster than the posted limit. The braking experience was also very powerful and consistent, and I was able to come to a complete halt without any commotion or excitement.

Wet

On wet roadways, the Falken Wildpeak H/T provided a glorious ride quality. Even when driving on roads that were soaked with rain, the handling was able to keep its tightness, the steering was able to keep its accuracy and its responsiveness, and the tires delivered remarkable levels of grip. As I aggressively increased my speed, I never once had the sensation that the tires were spinning or searching for stability. This is a very high compliment for a tire that has a durable H/T tread! Even on slippery roads, my pickup truck, which is in no way comparable to a sports car, had the degree of grip that is characteristic of a sports car. It was absolutely an incredible experience!

Snow

In light of the fact that the Falken Wildpeak H/T is designed for touring, I did not anticipate that the tires would thrive on snowy roadways. To my astonishment, however, the tires performed admirably well on snow that was either light or middling. It was only difficult for it to push through the thick snow because it was spinning aimlessly in an attempt to obtain the necessary traction. However, if you reside in an area that receives light to significant snowfall throughout the winter, it is in your best interest to invest in a set of all-terrain tires, also known as A/T tires. On the other hand, the Falken Wildpeak H/T is more than capable of energizing your driving experience when dealing with moderate snow and icy conditions.

Comfort

While I was doing some cross-country traveling, I couldn’t help but be impressed by how comfortable the Falken Wildpeak H/T was for me to ride on. This might be due to the fact that my truck has a more forgiving suspension. When driving on smooth highways, the tires had a great feel. While I was navigating my way over a lengthy stretch of rough territory that included loose gravel and wet sand, the tires continued to provide a comfortable ride.

Off-Road

It is only recommended for moderate off-roading that you use the Falken Wildpeak H/T tires. You’ll need a better pair of all-terrain or mud tires if your vehicle has been modified for extreme off-road driving so that it can manage driving through deep mud and overly rocky terrain. However, when viewed in a more positive light, it’s not all that terrible. Because of its rugged character, the Wildpeak H/T is more than capable of tackling challenging terrain that is more difficult than loose gravel or sand.

Handling and Noise

In my opinion, a tire that is capable of performing well in both dry and wet conditions is a competent handler. In spite of the fact that my pickup truck is not a sports vehicle, I have nothing but laudatory things to say about the way the Falken Wildpeak H/T handles and corners. If you consistently apply abrupt steering and throttle inputs in order to safely negotiate a tight corner, it will not grip the road as well as it otherwise would. However, when it comes to regular driving applications like carrying heavy loads and towing, the Wildpeak H/T will get the job done without a single complaint from the driver.

You can also anticipate a reduced level of road noise with the Falken Wildpeak H/T because it was developed specifically for use on the freeway. When it comes to improvement, Falken was actually successful in reaching the optimal level. When traveling at low to medium speeds, the Wildpeak H/T will have very little to no tire roar. However, you should be prepared for a greater amount of road noise when carrying large loads or when cruising at speeds that are higher than average.

The Bottom Line

The only thing I can say about the Falken Wildpeak H/T is good things. It provided the rugged performance of a true touring tire while still maintaining the refinement of a touring tire. It is true that it does not perform as well over rough roads or in challenging off-road terrain, but it shines when it comes to the aspect that is most important, which is traveling on paved roads.

The Falken Wildpeak H/T is a fantastic option for the money, in my opinion. If you are looking for a truck tire that excels in long-distance comfort, durability, and outstanding handling in all seasons, you should give the Wildpeak H/T some additional consideration.
